SandraGallacherArt

Sandra Gallacher lived in Maidens, Ayrshire and worked at
Gray’s Carpet Company as a trainee designer. Her desire to work in pastels was inspired and encouraged by senior colleague, Helen Turner, PAI, now one of Scotland's most acclaimed artists.

Sandra says, 'A real country lifestyle childhood playing on the beach and at Culzean Country Park initiated and developed a real love of our dramatic scenery and sunsets, our lush greenery and changing seasons in Ayrshire, the different species of birds and animals - and from a young age I loved drawing them.  Many years on, I still love that feeling of 'I've got it!'.  It brings me much satisfaction and happiness.'

'After a year of private commissions, I arranged a successful exhibition -
'Ceilidh in Colour' - at Dowhill Country Fayre, sold locally in 'The Wave Gallery' in Girvan and exhibited pastels in the Waterloo Gallery in Stranraer, as well as The Harbour Head Restaurant.'

'Ceilidh in Colour' ran once more from 15th - 29th May 2109 and  again during the Open Golf week at  Dowhill, Turnberry, some 2 miles away  .My love of the sea led me to explore our West Coast Islands - Skye, Mull, Iona, Arran, and last year, Islay, where friend and fellow artist, Lynn Ross, lives.'

My pastels on pets, seascapes, the local countryside, etc are available to be seen - and bought! - at my studio or on the following pages.  Click to enlarge thumbnails.

Latest works in progress - a change of geography and size of work ... and a trip to Islay to find Puffins

which do not visit my bird table!  Am also challenging my multi-tasking skills!
